Rainwater Catchment | indoor use | toilet & laundry
Rainwater catchment systems capture and store rainwater for use indoors for laundry machines and to flush toilets. A typical house with 2,000 square feet of roof area receiving 24 inches of rainfall can collect approximately 30,000 gallons of water a year. Rainwater is stored in above or below ground tanks and is used throughout the rainy and dry season.
Using rainwater indoors for laundry and to flush toilets makes sense in areas with long dry summers when rainwater is not available for landscape irrigation, or locating large storage tanks is not an option.
