Rainwater Catchment Systems
Rainwater catchment systems supply rainwater for landscape irrigation, or indoors for toilets and laundry. A typical house with 2,000 square feet of roof area receiving 24 inches of rainfall can collect approximately 30,000 gallons of water a year. Rainwater is stored in above or below ground tanks.
Simple rainwater irrigation systems use hoses or gravity drip irrigation to supply rainwater to plants in the landscape. Automated rainwater irrigation systems use pumps, irrigation controllers and valves to automatically irrigate the landscape. Rainwater can even be pumped indoors to supply toilets and laundry machines.
